Yemisi Arogbonlo, a student of Medicine at a university in Nassarawa State, has left her stepsister, Oluwafunke, in a critical condition at a specialist hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State after pouring hot
water on her while sleeping, leaving her neck, breasts, buttocks, chest and back scalded.
This happened at their house on Road 1, Federal Housing Estate, Mile 4, Port Harcourt. Oluwafunke’s mother separated from her daughter’s dad as soon as she was born, and she had lived with the father ever since. He remarried Victoria, who gave birth to Yemisi and 3 other children.
There was a disagreement between Oluwafunke and Victoria on Spetember, 2, and during a struggle, Victoria allegedly fell and hit her head against the wall. Victoria told Yemisi, who was then on the campus, about it and She returned home on Friday, December 4, pretending as if all was well.
Oluwafunke said she tried to explain to her that she didn’t touch her mother, that it was a misunderstanding and she wanted to hit her when she dodged and she fell. Yemisi told her not to bother about it, that it was gone and they should move on as sisters. Oluwafunke was asleep at night when Yemisi boiled water and emptied it on Oluwafunke. The matter has been reported at the Ada-George Police Station.
