The immediate past Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, illegally approved the transfer of at least N61.4 bn ($300m and £5.5m) from funds recovered from late dictator, Sani Abacha, to the Office of the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, few
weeks to the 2015 presidential election.
Okonjo-Iweala insisted that the N61.4 bn was solely for the purpose of prosecuting the war against Boko Haram. She said the disbursement was done with the full approval of the former President, Jonathan, based on the recommendations of a presidential committee.
This is coming few weeks after GEJ denied authorizing the disbursement of any money. This latest disclosure appears to have vindicated Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, who last week called for the prosecution of Okonjo-Iweala for transferring funds that were not appropriated.
Oshiomhole stated that neither the president nor the minister has power to unilaterally transfer funds that were not appropriated by the National Assembly. He argued that both of them should be charged alongside Dasuki, Dokpesi and Bafawara for allegedly misappropriating funds meant for arms procurement….. pls, if u don’t want problem, don’t arrest my Ngozi baby o……
