Italian Worker Reported Kidnapped In Niger Delta

An Italian, identified as Marcello Rizzo, has been reported kidnapped in the Niger Delta, the Italian foreign ministry said yesterday, adding it was in contact with his abductors.


 Rizzo, 55, from the Sicilian town of Randazzo, is a staff of Italian construction company, Gitto Costruzioni.
It is said that Rizzo has lived in Nigeria for eight years.
“We have had some contacts (with the kidnappers) and we hope we will see a positive conclusion,” a foreign ministry spokesman told Reuters.
“We were informed of his disappearance several days ago,” he said.
