The sedan or saloon is the most common car body style in the world today. High-end car manufacturers have also been trying to get a share of the market by releasing their own versions of the sedan. Here now is a list of the top 10 most luxurious sedans in the world.

10. Aston Martin Rapide

The Aston Martin Rapide is a four-door luxury sedan introduced in 2010. The car’s concept was first released in 2006 during that year’s North American International Auto Show held in Detroit. Three years later, a production version of the vehicle was introduced during the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is assembled in Gaydon in England, while a plant in Graz in Austria was also used until 2012. The grand tourer class vehicle has an FR layout and hatchback style. Based on the Aston Martin VH platform, it has a 5.9-liter V12 engine and six-speed automatic transmission.

The Jaguar XJ is a full size luxury vehicle from the British automobile giant Jaguar. It first went into production way back in 1968, with its design having the distinction of being the last sedan to include inputs from Sir William Lyons, the company’s founder. It is one of the official vehicles of the Prime Minister and royal family of the United Kingdom. The current version is the X351, a four-door sedan built in Birmingham. Buyers can choose among a three-liter diesel, five-liter V8 and five-liter V8 supercharged engines.

The BMW 6 Series is an executive sedan manufactured by the German car giant BMW. The car was first introduced during the Paris Motor Show in 2010. It boasts of a fuel-efficient engine that has lower emissions and better low revolution torque. The engine has a power of 302 horsepower at 5,800 rpm, while torque is at 300 lb-ft. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission system with Steptronic.

The Mercedes Benz S Class is a series of luxury sedans from the German car giant Mercedes Benz, which is a division of Daimler AG. S Class is actually the English version of S-Klasse, or Sonderklasse, meaning a class of its own. The car has a front engine layout with rear wheel or four wheel drive options. The S63 AMG is a special and limited version of the vehicle. It is powered by a 6.3-liter V12 engine with the capability to go up to 444 horsepower. The car has a seven-speed automatic transmission system.

The Maybach 62 was one of the first models of the Maybach brand since the brand’s purchase by Daimler AG. It is based on the Mercedes Benz S Class sedan and it was first introduced as the Benz Maybach concept car during the Tokyo Motor Show in 1997. As a luxury brand status, it came out ahead of Bentley and Rolls Royce during a 2008 survey. It has a six-liter V12 engine mated with a five-speed automatic transmission system. It is intended to be ridden with a chauffeur. The car has fully reclining rear seats, climate control, infrared-reflecting laminated glass, dual control air suspension, display instruments in the liner of the rear roof, folding rear tables, refrigerator compartment and Bose speaker surround system. It also has two LCD TV screens at the rear, tuners, DVD players and a cockpit and management navigation system.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo is a luxury four-door sedan from Porsche AG. Assembled in Leipzig, Germany, the full size car has a front engine layout with a choice between a four-wheel or rear-wheel drive. It was first unveiled during the Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in 2009. It is based on the Porsche 989 concept that was first talked about in 1989. The car has a 4.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine capable of producing power of up to 520 horsepower. It has a torque maximum of 516 lb-ft while its maximum speed is 305 kilometers per hour.

The Bentley Flying Spur is the four-door sedan version of the Bentley Continental GT.  Manufactured by Volkswagen in Bentley Crew in England and Dresden in Germany, the car is based on the Volkswagen Group D1 platform. The car has a longitudinal front engine, four-wheel drive layout. It boasts of a six-liter W12 twin-turbo engine that is mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission system. The car was introduced in March 2013 during the Geneva Motor Show.

The Maserati Quattroporte is a four-door sedan from the prestigious Italian carmaker Maserati. The name of Quattroporte is actually Italian for “four doors.” The model was first introduced in 1963 and has had five revisions ever since. The current model is the Quattroporte VI. Manufactured in Turin in Italy, the car has a front engine layout and a choice between a four-wheel or rear-wheel drive. Buyers can choose between a three-liter twin turbo V6 engine or 3.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine. Either way, both engines are mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission system. Both engines are made by Ferrari.

The Ferrari FF is a three-door grand tourer from the Italian car giant Ferrari. FF means Ferrari Four, which stands for the car’s four seats and four-wheel drive. It is the company’s first production four-wheel drive model. The body style has been described as a shooting brake. The car has an FM4 layout and boasts of a 6.3-liter V12 engine with seven-speed dual clutch automated semi-automatic transmission system. It has a top speed of 335 kilometers per hour and can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.7 seconds. It is considered to be the fastest four-seat car in the world.

The Rolls Royce Phantom was first introduced way back in 1925. The current version came out in 2003. The four-door sedan has an FR layout and boasts of a 6.75-liter V12 engine with a power of up to 453 horsepower. The engine is mated to either a ZF six-speed or eight-speed automatic transmission system. The car is manufactured in Chichester in West Sussex in England. It is the flagship model of the brand and was considered as the Car of the Year for 2003 by Top Gear magazine.
