Nigerian army have confirmed that troops have successfully repelled Boko Haram militants from the embattled town of Monguno, Borno state. Recall that the insurgents attacked and captured the town on January 25, 2015. However, the military headquarters have disclosed the they have regained the town.

"Troops in an operation led by highly coordinated air assaults have completed the mission of clearing terrorists from Monguno & environs," DHQ tweeted.
"A number of terrorists as well as truck loads of food & logistics meant for terrorists operating around Baga have been captured."
