10. Juventus – 20 Million Supporters
Nicknamed ‘The Old Lady’, Juventus have a massive fanbase of around 20 million supporters. They have been around since 1897, since then they’ve become the most successful team in Italy, in terms of Serie A titles. You can really see Juventus dominating Italian football for many more years!
9. Bayern Munich – 24 Million Supporters
We all know about Bayern Munich, champions of Europe in 2013. Record breaking amount of Bundesliga titles. Managed by the man himself, Pep Guardiola. As well as all of this, the European giants have 24 million fans, which puts them ninth in this list!
8. Inter Milan – 49 Million Supporters
Founded in 1908, Inter Milan have dominated Italian football throughout spells. Nowadays though, F.C Internazionale Milano aren’t quite the force they once were. However, this doesn’t have an effect on their enormous amount of support throughout the world, with around 49 million supporters!
7. Liverpool – 71 Million Supporters
English giants Liverpool have a massive fan base of 71 million! The Reds have 18 league titles to their name. Not to mention their 5 victories in Europe’s biggest competition, the Champions League! Like Inter, they’re not as good as they previously were. But with Brendan Rodgers as their manager, things are finally looking up for the Reds!
6. AC Milan – 99 Million Supporters
Another Milan, this time AC. They actually share a ground with their previously mentioned, arch-rivals, Inter Milan. It’s called the San Siro, one of the most iconic stadiums on the planet. 18 times Serie A winners, 7 times Champions League winners. This just emphasizes the size of this gigantic club.
5. Arsenal – 113 Million Supporters
The Gunners’ have a huge fanbase! The first to reach triple digits so far. The London based club have an amazing 13 league titles to their name. Despite its undoubted size, Arsenal are still yet to win the Champions League. The Gunners have had some of the most well known names in football over they years too, such as Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.
4. Chelsea – 135 Million Supporters
Another London based club, this time Chelsea, with an enormous fanbase. The Blues came into some serious wealth around 2003, when Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich took over the club. Chelsea have won the league title 4 times, most recently in the 2009-10 season. A couple of seasons later, they gained their first bit of European success too, and brought the Champions League back to London.
3. Real Madrid – 174 Million Supporters
Real Madrid Club de Fútbol. Where do we start? 32 La Liga titles, 19 Copa del Rey successes, and most staggeringly, 10 times Champions League winners! A record amount of European success at this club.
2. Barcelona – 270 Million Supporters
Another Spanish giant, this time FC Barcelona. The side that people associate with nice, quick, attractive football. The home of arguably, the world’s greatest ever player. Lionel Messi, if you needed a reminder. 22 times La Liga champions, 26 Copa del Rey wins, and 4 times conquerors of Europe. 270 million is loads, but you just wait for number 1.
1. Manchester United – 354 Million Supporters
So, here we are. The most supported club in world football. And it is Manchester United. The dominating club in English football in the last 25 years. And most of it was down to Sir Alex Ferguson, who brought the winning way to Old Trafford, to make them into the world’s biggest club. 20 league titles, 3 times champions of Europe, 11 times F.A Cup winners and 4 times League Cup winners. All of that silverware is ridiculous. That’s why they’re the most supported club in the world.
