THE 332-YEAR OLD TORTOISE FROM OGBOMOSO, OYO STATE.

This 332-year old tortoise is called 'Alagba', and is a distinguished resident of the Oba's Palace at Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. It is known to have mystical/healing powers, attracting visitors from all over the world who only need to touch it and get healed.

It has lived in the palace for 300 years, and has outlived about 15 Souns (Kings) in its time. It was first brought into the palace by an ancient Oyo Oba, Toyese Ikunuyi Ajagungbade the 1st. on his return from a war. It was intended as a pet, until the Oba discovered its healing powers. It is gathered that the tortoise receives over 150 visitors everyday. You must address it as 'Alagba' (elder), lest it gets offended.
