While their team was keeping Nigeria busy on the pitch, Argentina fans were keeping local police occupied off it.

Brazilians and foreigners, including Nigerians, were victims of desperate Argentina fans looking to acquire tickets by all means, fair or foul.

Nigerian journalist Felix Okugbe had his iPad nicked from his backpack while he was conducting interviews in a huddle of fans.

Another Nigerian, Sharif Rabiu, was a victim of a more crude version. Rabiu, 46, was walking to the stadium when an Argentine fan snatched his bag and made off. The Nigerian gave chase, attracting the attention of the police, who soon apprehended the culprit.

But because he had to stay behind to write a report and wait what could have been hours for the incident to be registered, Sharif decided not to press charges and ran to the stadium, where the game was already 10 minutes gone.

According to local newspaper Zero Hora, four other Nigerians were attacked and their money and tickets stolen.
