Edo, Delta Police Commissioners In Crucial Meeting To Secure Ozekhome’s Release

There are indications that the Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr Folunso Adebanjo and his counterpart in Delta State, Ikechukwu Aduba, have perfected plans to secure the release of the human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and three others from the hands of their abductors unhurt.
Since the incident, the Edo CP and his men have been combing the bushes including the evil forest and other spots suspected to be haven for kidnappers, although no significant progress has been recorded.
The Edo State Police Commissioner and his counterpart in Delta State held marathon meetings on Friday and yesterday, mapping out strategies on how to secure their release unhurt. There are now strong indications that they may have identified where the victims are kept and are strategizing on how to deal with the situation in order to avoid casualties, according to Vanguard.
It was learnt that top police officers and crack team of detectives were involved in the meeting, giving signals that they may embark on a commando mission.

Sources say the police commissioners of both Delta and Edo states are determined to ensure that they secure the release of Ozekhome and others.
Asked if the police are involved in the negotiation of the ransom, a source told Vanguard that “the police have no business with ransom all they are after is to secure the release of victims unhurt”.
Ozekhome and his driver, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Athanasius Ugbome and an official of the Federal Inland Revenue Board, whose name is yet to be ascertained, had been abducted on the 23rd of August at Ehor, along the Benin-Auchi road, by armed bandits who also killed four policemen who went to rescue the lawyer.
The kidnappers recently requested the sum of N100million and N40million as ransom for Ozekhome and Ugbome respectively.
