As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer
window, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so
we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today,
Arsenal are set to announce their second signing of the summer.
Arsenal have sealed their second signing of the summer after Mathieu Flamini agreed to rejoin the club on a free transfer, according to reports today.
Te Frenchman became a free agent in June
after rejecting a new deal at AC Milan and has been training with the
Gunners in recent weeks to maintain his fitness as he assessed his
options.
It appears the 29-year-old has done enough to convince Arsene Wenger that he can still cut it at the top level with the Daily Mail one
of several media outlets who’re reporting that the midfielder has now
agreed terms over a £40,000-a-week, three-year deal and will now begin
his second stint in north London.
Flamini originally joined Arsenal back
in 2004 and went on to make over 100 first team appearances before an
acrimonious departure in 2008 saw him snub a new contract in favour of
making a free transfer move to Milan.
It remains to be seen how the player
will be received by the Emirates faithful now that the tables have
turned and he’s joined the likes of Sol Campbell, Jens Lehmann and
Thiery Henry in re-joining the club.
The versatile Frenchman is not the
big-money signing Arsenal fans are expecting this summer but he will no
doubt prove to be a useful addition as he’ll be able to cover at both
full-back areas as well as in midfield.
