yesterday marks Governor Babatunde Fashola’s 50th birthday, and he has managed to effectively turn Lagos around for good! So,
as the able governor blows out the candles on his 'Birthday Cake',
we're celebrating by charting 20 of his achievements since he became
Governor of the centre of excellence!
1. The BRT transport revolution, the first of its kind in Africa –with the BRT, life has been made easier for Lagosians as it offers them a cheaper means of transportation!

2. Oshodi bus stop environmental reclamation and transformation.
3. The independent power project (IPP) actualisation.
4. Concessioning initiative: His government introduced Build Operate
and Transfer (BOT) scheme, an arrangement which encourages the private
sector to invest in infrastructure development in the state.
5. The mono rail model transportation project – the ongoing Badagry-Mile 2 light rail mega project.

6. The Ikoyi- Lekki link wonder bridge.
7. Massive road construction and repairs across the state. Unprecedented, So far, over 10000 roads have been repaired and constructed across the state.
8. The Mega city initiative. His government has been implementing a master plan to make Lagos a mega city.
9. Security Trust Fund Initiative to give Lagos adequate security - and today, to an appreciative extent, Lagos is now enjoying security.
10. No Siren Policy: his government is laying a very civilised legacy of not disturbing the environment with siren by government officials.
11. General environmental reclamation: Today, Lagos has been reclaimed from a state of acute insanity to sanity. Almost all the jungles; dangerous zones; boys colonies and idle spaces have been reclaimed and transformed to useful public facilities.
12. No to wasteful and public distribution of tax payers’ money to politicians and praise singers by public office holders.
13. No- abandoned- project culture. So far, in BRF’s government, there has not been any record of abandoned project by his government in Lagos State.
14. Ban on Okada to reduce the increment in road accidents
15. He has successfully rehabilitated the
state's public schools, long being neglected with time. Among the
schools include the governor's alma mater, Birch Freeman High School,
which is located at a busy metropolis of Surulere, Agidingbi grammar school in Ikeja, and several others.
16. The transformation of Oshodi apart from a smooth flow of traffic,
the entire area is being renewed into a serene and appealing
environment.
17. His administration created the new Simpson Transfer Loading
Station - the first of a series of such stations to be located across
the state to compact wastes into smaller volumes for faster and more
efficient evacuation to dump sites with fewer trucks -where
smoke-belching dumpsite are transformed to an environmentally-friendly
site covered in lush green grass in accordance with emerging global
trends.
19. His regime introduced the annual Eko carnival which has garnered more international and tourist attraction for the state
